This course aims to offer students an insight into the various areas of Bioscience, theoretical, practical and applied. It is designed to offer foundation modules in year one. It aims to build on this foundation in year two with more applied and complex models. They plan to utilise problem based learning widely in year two allowing students freedom to research deeply into particular areas of interest. It includes study skills and statistical analysis, biological chemistry, microbiology, genes and disease, human physiology, cell and tissue biology, essential immunology, bioethics, professional practice and career pathways.
5 GCSEs or equivalent including English, Maths and Science at Grade C or above. Together with one of the following: A minimum of 60 tariff points at A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification to include Biology and Chemistry, Access to Science: Considered on an individual basis, Other: Applications from mature students without academic credentials will be considered on an individual basis, especially those working in Biomedical laboratories, National and Advanced Diplomas in a relevant subject are accepted as a progression to a Foundation Degree and HND.
