This is a practical, work-related course that will provide the students with an understanding of children’s early development, care and education. They will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities, as well as learn about the employment area related to care and education in the early years. This qualification carries a licence to practice for working with young children. They will study a combination of specialist units and seven core units. The core units include: positive relationships for children’s care, learning and development, positive environments for children’s care learning and development, promoting children’s development, reflecting on and developing practice for children, safeguarding children, promoting children’s rights and children’s learning activities and play.
Students should be aged between 16 to 18 years and they should have a Level 2 in English or levels 1-2 in Maths, or 4 GCSE subjects at grade D or Merit/Distinction from a Level 2 course.
