In this course, students will need to pass 180 credits. The following 6 (10 credits each) modules are mandatory: anatomy for sport and exercise, sport and exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology, research methods for sport and exercise sciences, research project for sport and exercise sciences, fitness testing for sport and exercise. They will also need to pass a further 120 credits from a range of optional units (all 10 credits). Examples (from the 21 available) that may be studied are sports biomechanics in action, fitness training programme, sports nutrition, current issues in sport, sports injuries, sports coaching, practical individual sports, practical team sports, applied sport and exercise psychology, applied sport and exercise physiology, work experience in sport, laboratory and experimental methods in sport and exercise science. After successful completion of the course, they may progress to relevant employment, such as a sports coach or fitness instructor or alternatively they may progress to a higher education course such as BSc (Hons) sports studies degree.
