This course is designed to provide students with a theoretical and practical training in game keeping. Approximately half the time at college is spent on theoretical studies and half on practical. It covers a wide range of topics relevant to the needs of the industry, including game bird ecology, encompassing their habitat management, pest and predator control. Other areas included are the planning and running of shoot days and the use of dogs, deer management and the use of firearms.
Students should possess four GCSEs (or equivalent) at A, B or C Level includes English, Mathematics and a science subject, preferably Biology, other relevant qualifications may be accepted, eg: BTEC or CG Level 2 Diploma at Pass with at least two units at Merit.
