This course is intended to provide students with knowledge of the health and care services, enabling them to investigate a range of areas for study. In this course, they will also gain an understanding and the skills required for future practice and employment in health and/or care. They will be required to complete work placements as part of the course, as well as homework. They will study eight units that consist of four mandatory and four optional units that provide a combined total of 60 credits. Mandatory units include communication in health and social care; individual rights in health and social care; individual needs in health and social care; ensuring safe environments in health and social care.
Students should be aged between 16 to 18 years and they should have levels 1-2 in English or Maths, or 4 GCSE subjects at grade D or Merit/Distinction from a Level 1 course.
