This course will help the students to develop the skills and knowledge needed when applying for, and working in, the police, fire and ambulance services, armed forces, customs and excise or prison, youth and community or health services. They will learn about the work of these various services, as well as the entry requirements and promotion opportunities. They will have the opportunities to attend sessions run by the police, army, navy, fire and rescue within and outside the College. They will also go on a one week residential trip. Topics include public service skills; career planning for the public services; improving health and fitness for entry to the uniformed public services.
Students should be aged between 16 to 18 years and they should have levels 1-2 in English or Maths, or 4 GCSE subjects at grade D or a Merit/Distinction from a Level 1 course.
