This course is designed to cater for school leavers or other new entrants into the sports industry. It provides a good foundation in sport and students will cover a wide range of subjects related to sport and outdoor activities. It is very practical in nature and they will be expected to participate in a variety of activities, such as climbing (indoor and outdoor), mountain biking and kayaking together with some team sports. It includes the following core units: fitness testing and training, outdoor and adventurous activities and specialist units: anatomy and physiology for sport, development of personal fitness, nutrition for sports performance, leading outdoor and adventurous activities, expedition experience.
