In this course, students will learn basic skills in preparation for a career in public services, community or voluntary work or alternatively a more advanced course of study. They will study areas including searching for a job, conduct at work, well-being and fitness for public service, public service group project, public service careers, improving health and fitness for entry into the uniformed public services, personal skills for the public services, managing their health at work, forensic detection, introduction to security work in the public services, undertake a formal presentation and be able to answer questions in a formal interview. After successful completion of the course, they may progress to BTEC level 2 diploma in public services.
Students must have GCSE grade D or above in English Literature or Language and attend and pass an entry interview.
