This course is aimed at those who wish to acquire a good understanding of law and to help participants on the path to career in law and law related areas. It provides them with a knowledge of and insight into the major legal institutions, general practice and procedure and personnel comprising and operating within the English Legal System together with knowledge of certain discrete areas of law and particular areas of practice. It will also develop reading and research skills, analytical thinking, coherent presentation and argument, providing students with the skills required to marshal, organize and present legal concepts, ideas and rules. It covers units: Sources of Law and Judicial Reasoning, Legal Personnel and Institutions, Formation and Contents, Performance and Breach, General principles, Specific offences, public law and law in practice.
