This course provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the world of creative fashion and textiles. It includes an understanding of the nature of fashion and its psychology, the essential attributes of stylish fabrics and textiles, and the skills and expertise required to become a successful and inspirational designer. Participants will also learn about imaginative visual communication and other key aspects of the fashion industry. It develops a wide range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. It covers units: drawing techniques and approaches, historical and contextual referencing, professional practice and development, fashion and textile materials understanding, visual communication, professional studies and pattern drafting.
Participants must be aged 18 or over and have four GCSE, GCE or SCEs, one of which should be in English and one in a Maths subject at grade A, B or C or Intermediate HSC pass with good grades and have GCSE grades in English language where the GCSE examining board is not Cambridge or Edexcel or AQA, such participants must possess at minimum, a valid IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no more than one score in any discipline being less than 5.5.
