Developing skills and knowledge to prepare for a career in the demanding and exciting equine leisure industry. // The equine industry is an ever-expanding leisure sector with plenty of career opportunities for those with good qualifications and practical skills. Areas with particular demand are teaching, livery centres, racing and studs. Progression onto appropriate MSc or MA programmes is also an option. // Sparsholt College Equine Centre offers excellent teaching facilities. The facilities are used to develop riding and husbandry, through to resources for a final year dissertation. // The programme is delivered through a range of assessments, case studies, seminars, investigative reports and practical sessions plus visits to studs, sports horse centres and visits, with guest speakers in nutrition, physiotherapy and other subjects. // The Course includes an international study tour to widen awareness of the equine industry. Students also work collaboratively to manage an inter-college event each year. Students are expected to keep up with industry developments throughout the course. // The final year dissertation enables students to study an aspect of equine science or management in some depth, for example, assessing colour vision in horses.
