Expanding knowledge of applied animal behaviour, and developing and applying research and diagnostic techniques in aspects of animal behaviour, training and pet behaviour counselling. // Based on animal behaviour, including animal psychology and welfare, the course provides essential knowledge required by animal behaviourists and pet behaviour counsellors. It works towards the knowledge elements that are required for certification as a clinical Animal Behaviourist as identified by the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour in their academic requirements. // The course includes the study of human and animal psychology; ethology (study of natural behaviour); domestication of animals; understanding and promoting animal welfare; ethical knowledge and understanding; mechanisms of behaviour, animal learning, communication and training. // The programme includes an extended personal animal behaviour research project. This will take the form of a behavioural study, the results of which will be analysed, explained and interpreted using published researched and knowledge gained during the course. // The course is modular and will be delivered through a series of eight, one week blocks at Sparsholt College Hampshire. Students will need to spend a considerable amount of time studying from home and will need access to a broadband internet connection. Students will also have the opportunity to observe behaviour clinics. // Good results will enable progression to a Masters degree in Animal Behaviour.
