This is a fully professional, competence based qualification. Centre experience of delivering this and related OCR qualifications extends over 15 years.The course will enable candidates to:- identify and assess the needs of Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties;- develop ability to write formal diagnostic assessment reports and teaching programmes to inform and advise other professionals on learners with specific needs;- write assessment reports to advise external bodies with regard to learners' specific assessment needs;- deliver effective teaching sessions to learners with dyslexia and other learning difficulties affecting literacy and numeracy;- develop professional values and commitment to professional standards.Routes:- continued professional development for those with responsibility for learners with specific learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy acquisition.
The course is aimed at teachers and other professionals working within one phase of educational provision - primary, secondary or adult (post-16) who support learners experiencing significant difficulties with the acquisition and development of literacy and (basic) numeracy skills.Candidates progressing from Level 4 Certificate (now Level 5) will receive APL for the teaching experience gained within the Level 4 (5) qualification.
