Course examines managerial issues and practice and their application to the arts; topics covered include: funding; management of venues; marketing and publicity; legal and financial issues in the arts; students have the opportunity to work with practising artists and to gain hands-on experience of working in arts organisations.
Level 1: The arts management framework; media orientations; technology in arts organisation; accounting; work placement practice 1; image analysis; organisational behaviour; arts marketing. Level 2: Performing arts management; managing arts presentations 1 and 2; research in the arts; business law; visual arts management; work placement practice 2; plus options. Level 3: Dissertation; new media and digital arts; plus options.
