Course Description
Fired up by the challenge of the new? Join with students from across The Arts in interdisciplinary study to explore and challenge what constitutes our understanding of research and knowledge. Interrogate research methodologies before embarking on a series of discipline specific modules which lead to a major project. Critical thinking, creative processes and products are found within disciplinary boundaries but are just as often the outcome of cross-disciplinary interaction and stimulus. By completing compulsory generic core modules in research and research methodologies, MA in The Arts students will be part of a vibrant postgraduate community which will allow them to explore inter-relationships across subject areas. To this end, throughout the course, importance will be attached to the potential of the student group for debating issues and sharing the results of their practical and theoretical research.

Assessment method
There are no formal examinations. Assessment is by coursework which may include essays, seminar presentations, written dissertations, exhibition or performance.

Entry Requirements
Applicants will normally have an Honours degree with a first or upper second classification in a subject area appropriate to the route they wish to follow. Exceptionally, other candidates will be considered. Applications from overseas students, mature students and recent graduates are welcome. Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English. For some routes, applicants will be required to submit evidence through portfolio or documentation of a body of work, creative ability and theoretical engagement.
