An investigation into the crossing boundaries between fashion and art starting with famed French couturier Paul Poiret who moved in artistic circles, and ending with contemporary artist Yinka Shonibare who is known for his colourful batik fabric sculptures exploring issues of race and class. The course will be delivered by illustrated talks.
