During this course, students gain an understanding of the nature of cloth and ways in which materials, dyes and thread can be used to explore ideas and create structures. It provides an opportunity to draw upon contemporary design and the worldwide historical and cultural heritage. Techniques taught include embroidery, batik, silk painting, appliqué, felt making, the dyeing of natural materials and fabric manipulation and fabric construction.
