This course aims to develop the maximum potential of your creative ability in textile art and design. You will explore different processes of gathering research through a variety of methods of drawing which will then lead on to the introduction of a diverse range of creative textile processes. You will incorporate unconventional elements such as wire, metal, glass and paper as forms of constructing, as well as the more traditional methods, such as weaving and felting along with skills in fabric manipulation and a whole variety of creative printing, dying and embroidery methods. Emphasis will be on a good use of colour, texture, drawing and design skills. Alongside skills in textiles, you will be encouraged to develop your own personal responses to concepts and ideas. You will visit museums, galleries and exhibitions to study the work of artists and designers. In A2 you will choose your own project for research. Throughout the course your individuality and personal creative ideas are encouraged. Students may progress to degrees in art and design via our full time Foundation Diploma in Art & Design course.
