Course Description
This course will help students develop their skills, knowledge and creativity through practical workshops and assignments, and will enable them to build a portfolio of work. They will study four compulsory core units and two specialist optional units, which allow them to experiment and produce work in a variety of areas. They will develop their practical skills by exploring materials and processes in Fine Art, 3D Design, Textile/Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Photography. They will also investigate the work of other artists and designers. During the final stage of the course there will be a negotiated Final Major Project in a specialist area of their choice.

Assessment method
Four units are internally assessed through assignments. Two units are assessed externally.

Entry Requirements
Candidates will need GCSE in Art, grade B, plus three GCSEs at grade D or above. Alternatively Foundation Level 1 Art and Design with a Merit grade. For those offering GCSE Art, their portfolio should include observational drawing.
