UNIT 1: A portfolio of coursework including a sketchbook and larger final work usually on a given topic, e.g. Still Life and Natural Form, involving research of other artist's work, the development of observational skills, the use of a wide range of media including oil painting and the creation of a final piece of work plus a sketchbook which shows the student's ideas and developments which inspired same., 30% of AS final mark , , UNIT 2:, Another piece of coursework, also on a given topic. You will be given a broad starting point, for instance Portrait - the Human Figure. This could include the human form and objects connected to you. When working on both of these units you will be taken on day visits to galleries such as Tate Modern and the Portrait Gallery., 30% of final AS mark , , UNIT 3:, Controlled test. From five questions provided by AQA you select one and during the 4 week preparation time you will show your ideas, research, artist's inspirations, development of ideas, experimentation with media, charting how you have created your final piece which you will carry out in a set period of time., 40% of final AS mark
6 GCSE grades A* - C in National Curriculum Subjects, including English, Maths and Art and including at least 2 grades at A/B. Screening test showing Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
