This course is divided into two levels; during the first year students have the opportunity to experience many different subject areas within the field of art and design; areas of study include fine art; applied arts and design communications; this, with guidance from the tutors; enables students to choose to specialise at level five in one or two specialist subjects; as well as acquiring a range of artistic skills; students also advance their personal development in the areas of creative problem solving; professional practice; critical awareness and business and self promotion; the course is aimed at students who wish to develop a broad understanding and ability in art and design at foundation degree level; the opportunity exists to continue on to a BA Hons at a partner institution.
