Course Description
The programme is by individual project, negotiated with the programme team. This is contextualised in stages 1 and 2 by a series of staff led seminars that examine a range of issues relevant to current art and design practice. A key feature of the programme is the use of presentations by students to students of their work in progress as a way of complimenting tutorial support from staff. Students are encouraged to not only design their own individual programme but also collaborate as a group to organise study visits, exhibit, etc. Typically students will spend the first stage of the programme gathering and evaluating relevant information. This may be by study visits, library research, workshop practice and, where appropriate, work placement. Stage 2 is used typically to focus and test the project using material assembled in stage 1. In the final stage students are encourage to bring their project to some kind of resolution and demonstrate their ability to locate their work within contemporary practice. The programme has developed a link with New Delhi College of Art, with whom we exchange exhibitions.
