Course Description
This course is for artists, arts professionals and arts graduates who are seeking a higher academic degree. It will enhance your career opportunities an equip you to survive financially as an artist, through the acquisition of business and entrepreneurship skills. Key Features Prepares you to be a financially successful artist Work alongside the University's Artist in Residence and Arts fellow Professional practice and business tutors are from a range of industrial and professional backgrounds Programme has extensive input from input from visiting artists, arts practitioners, curators, art managers, arts marketers and arts fund raisers Flexible study patterns, either full or part-time Opportunities for exchanges and collaboration with professional artists Pathways Pathway 1: Art and Professional Practice This pathway is tailored to suit those who are developing their artist-led practice, working as arts-professionals or self-employed arts practitioners. Mandatory Art Practice as Research module and Professional Art Practice modules will be complimented by a range of optional modules in fine art painting, art and curatorial practice, photography and new media, installation, contemporary ceramics. The course will culminate in a focused engagement with an Independent Study that combines both theory and practice. Pathway 2: Art and Business This pathway is tailored to suit non-art practitioners who might be arts managers or marketers and who wish to extend their creative skills and knowledge of running a professional arts organisation. One mandatory Research module and a number of modules in Business Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing, shared with the Worcester Business School, will be complimented by a range of practical modules, culminating in a focused engagement with a theoretical or applied Independent Study in a relevant area of study.

Assessment method
Assessment is by 100% coursework. Assessment criteria is provided and students are able to use this for self and formative peer assessment. Learning journals are kept, and a Learning Report addresses the Learning Outcomes for each module.
Entry Requirements
Either a first or second class Honours degree in a relevant, cognate discipline or equivalent professional experience ; portfolio interview following submission of a relevant study proposal; if English is not your first language IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each element) required.
