This course introduces students to a wide range of art practices and historical discourses from which they can develop a highly individual programme of study; it encourages interdisciplinary practice; visits to galleries and museums both in the United Kingdom and abroad are organised every year and at every level of the course.
Level 1: Modules may include: introduction to painting and printmaking; introduction to ceramics and 3-dimensional construction; introduction to drawing and life drawing; introduction to photography and new media; introduction to art history. Level 2: students study core modules in art history and either ceramics or painting, plus a choice of 2 from the following subjects: printmaking; ceramic technology; throwing and mould-making; photography; new media. Level 3: modules may include: further core studies in chosen pathway of either ceramics or painting; related research and art history; public exhibition.
