Students are introduced to the variety of approaches to the study of art history and are provided with an overview to the key developments in art in Western Europe from 1000 to 2000 AD; more specialised modules on the course provide an overview of art in western Europe, from the end of the so-called �Dark Ages' to the proto-Renaissance; artistic developments in northern Europe in the early modern period; an in-depth study of the Romantic movement in late eighteenth and nineteenth century England.
Introduction to history of art; artistic sources and reputations; cities and civilisations; art in medieval Europe; the Renaissance in Northern Europe; the Romantic movement in England.
