Course Description
This course provides an interesting and varied basic introduction to Art and Design. It will help students to develop skills and produce two and three-dimensional work. This course will introduce them to a variety of areas including Drawing, Painting, Textiles, 2D Design and 3D Design in wood, metal and clay. These areas are broken down into six units. These include: Exploring Visual Language, Exploring Materials, Techniques and Processes, Introduction to 3D Design Crafts, Introduction to 2D Design, Explore and Develop Ideas and Carry Out a Personal Project.
Assessment method
Four units are internally assessed through assignments. Two units are assessed externally.
Entry Requirements
Candidates will have a keen interest in Art and have predominantly GCSE grades D/E in a variety of subjects. They will also need to attend an interview with a portfolio of artwork.
