This course surveys major developments in painting, architecture and sculpture in Europe and America in the 20th century. It will include a survey of sculpture in Britain from Epstein to Moore then the work of Freud and Bacon. It continues with a consideration of the rise of American Art to world prominence with Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Neo-Dada and Pop Art before returning to the British scene with British Pop, Hockney and members to the Young British Art movement like Hirst and Emin.
