Course Description
Aims of the Course: To provide a firm grounding in Aromatherapy and related aspects so that the students can practise competently and safely on a professional basis. During the course you will complete the VTCT Diploma in Aromatherapy D1079 and the VTCT Diploma in Advanced Aromatherapy Techniques D1032, so that you will be able to practice as an aromatherapist. Objectives of the Course: Competently carry out case studies to fulfil mandatory requirements - Have a detailed knowledge of the properties of carrier oils and essential oils: 9 carrier oils and 40 essential oils - Blending oils to suit client needs (massage creams etc.) - Understand and recognise safety aspects - Have a good understanding of anatomy and physiology - Be able to carry out a competent massage. Demonstrate a knowledge of clinic management. Activities and Tasks: General - background and history of aromatherapy, methods of use, extraction, safety aspects, definition of aromatherapy. Essential Oils - detailed knowledge of 20 mandatory oils and a knowledge of the function and effects of a further 10 oils. Professional ethos and business studies. Anatomy and Physiology. Consultation and Treatment.
Assessment method
Tutor observed practical assessments; Portfolio evidence; oral questions; case studies; written questions and assignments; written exams as per VTCT guidelines;VR02 and VR74 health and safety multichoice paper if not yet achieved (internally marked).
