This is a diverse degree which covers a variety of aspects and concepts within architectural design and technology with design very much at its core; students are able to develop key skills of presentation, technical innovation, team leadership, specialist information technology applications such as computer-aided design; the discipline offers a range of vocational opportunities at local, national and international levels.
Level 1: Architectural design 1; computer aided design; construction technology 1; introduction to the built environment; health and safety law; the economic framework. Level 2: Architectural design 2; construction technology 2; building regulations; construction contract administration; development law and practice; building services; structural design; computer-aided architectural design. Level 3: Architectural design 3; inter-professional studies; modern methods of building; building appraisal and maintenance; politics of architecture; conservation of buildings.
