This programme provides a general training for those who wish to study archaeology as a higher degree, and offers considerable flexibility to answer the needs of those with a range of different backgrounds. Two pathways are offered. In the first, taught modules are taken to the value of 120 credits and the dissertation represents 60 credits; this pathway is suitable for those without a first degree in archaeology who wish to engage in research in the subject, or those who require more specific subject teaching. In the second, the dissertation accounts for 90 credits (half the total), and is intended for those with a degree in archaeology who want to devote more time to research. Both pathways are intended to serve as research training to suit the requirements of the AHRC's postgraduate grants competition. The wide range of option modules offers unrivalled choice for candidates to put together the programme that suits them best. Modules 1. Research methods and skills modules including communication skills, method and theory in current archaeology, professional skills and an advanced project. 2. Specialist modules: Students can choose from a variety of modules on offer within our other Masters programmes, along with the possibility of taking 15 credits of modules at an appropriate level in another department.. 3.
