This degree combines archaeological, anthropoligical and art historical approaches to art across the world; the programme is interdisciplinary and allows students to study prehistorical and contemporary non-western cultures and societies; in combination with general introductions to archaeology, anthropology and material culture studies, students develop their own interests in particular areas; units include African art and performance and the archaeology of art; students experience and evaluate anthropological and archaeological material at 1st hand in the Sainsbury Collection and on field trips; in addition, there are a number of opportunities to gain practical experience in archaeological field work.
