Year 1: Social science perspectives; an introduction to quantitative methods; social thought in context; the making of psychology; options from within applied social sciences or from other degree programmes, which may include: social divisions in modern society; exploring other cultures; psychological perspectives in contemporary issues; society and crime (sociological perspectives); introduction to psychological perspectives in criminology; an anthropological view of Europe (diversification or unification); social problems and social policy; analysing social policy.

Year 2: Key concepts in social sciences; methods of social analysis; research skills; resesarch methods in the social sciences; criminology pathway units (perspectives in criminology); crime, social change and society; youth, crime and society; 2 options from the areas of criminology, applied social sciences or from across the university.

Year 3: Dissertation; applied social sciences in policy and practice; criminology pathway units; issues of law enforcement and social control; penology; crime prevention (theories, practices and policies); 2 options from within the applied social sciences programme or from other degree programmes.
