The School of Interdisciplinary studies offers students the benefits and resources of a large city university, in a small and friendly setting.
Teaching on this programme is through a combination of lectures; seminars; projects; study trips; and fieldwork; as a graduate of the programme students are able to demonstrate an understanding of the conceptual and methodological bases for conducting high-quality investigations in the context of carbon management; be able to analyse the ethical considerations relevant to carbon management in an occupational or professional context; able to apply the tools employed for tackling greenhouse gas emissions; able to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies employed to tackle greenhouse gas emissions; and have the knowledge and technical ability to assess and advise on carbon management.
Carbon auditing and management; climate, carbon and change; theory and principles of sustainability; and environmental ethics and behavioural change; optional courses: climate change: impacts on ecology; sustainable buildings; environmental economics; sustainable energy technologies; tourism sustainability and climate change; policies for sustainability and development; other optional courses are available; students also complete either a work placement project or dissertation.
