This course is designed as a practical introduction to the care of antique furniture. It will cover specific key areas which may reasonably be performed at home with few tools and little or no woodworking experience. This course is suitable for the complete beginner, although, a familiarity with using tools and a general practical aptitude would be an advantage. Students are invited to bring up to three small pieces of furniture to work on, and for advice and guidance on an appropriate approach for their repair. Time is set aside each day for work on their own pieces and it should be possible for this to include practising many of the techniques covered by the course.
