Stage 1: Introduces students to historical topics from ancient Greece to the Roman Empire, together with a module that gives students a grounding in methods of archaeology; plus options including: the archaeology of Britain; archaeological science; Greek or Latin; and world history. Stage 2: Students investigate Greek history and study the archaeology of the Roman Empire; further options extend the geographical range of prehistoric and historical archaeology to the rest of Europe and the countries around the Mediterranean; practical options include modules on artefacts using the collections in the University�s museums; options range from Roman pottery to women in history and culture. Stage 3: Students complete a dissertation or portfolio, after which they have a free choice of options; there are specialist modules in Greek and Roman history, such as Greek and Roman medicine and Roman emperors, while further options include social prehistory, Europe in the 1st millennium BCE, Rome�s northern frontiers and the Persian Empire.
