This course covers the development of the USA from the colonial period and the revolution to the present day; it also includes optional courses on the Native Americans, Canada and Latin America; the course aims to help students to understand the United States of America, the pre-eminent power of the 21st century; to this end a wide range of approaches is explored and a number of different subjects are included eg history, politics, film, diplomacy, literature, art and sociology.
