Course Description
The programme provides the student with a fundamental understanding of the airworthiness issues over a wide spectrum of aerospace technologies met in design, manufacture, operations and maintenance; interwoven throughout the course, the airworthiness concepts of certification, compliance, demonstration, substantiation and validation is explained in the context of the technology under consideration; the role and purpose of organisation approval and licensing in aviation safety is examined along with the procedures involved.

Assessment method
Aircraft fatigue and damage tolerance; safety assessment of aircraft systems; gas turbine fundamentals; properties and processing of metals; mechanical integrity of gas turbines; airframe stressing and detail design; gas turbine operation and maintenance; intelligent information systems; practical reliability; gas turbine performance; aircraft accident investigation and response; product evaluation and validation; fundamentals of aircraft engine control; manufacturing; fundamentals of aircraft and engine aerodynamics; introduction to human factors; air transport engineering: maintenance operations; composite aircraft structures; software reliability and maintainability; research project.

Entry Requirements
1st or 2nd Class UK Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; other relevant qualifications, together with considerable experience, will be considered.

Venue Description
Accommodation may be available to those undertaking certain learning opportunities and the institution will provide details. Childcare facilities are available on site. Early booking of sessions is strongly recommended due to high demand of limited places. Guidance and advice may be available for all aspects of student life.
