This course covers: Research methods in History with special reference to Asia and Africa; Colonialism and Development in East and Central Africa; West African Coastal Societies and Cultures; History of Islam in Africa; the colonial state in South East Asia, 1900-1940; Expansion and Impact: the Origins and Early Development of Islam in the Middle East; the end of the empire in the Middle East and the Balkans; Central Asia; Islam in South Asia; Evolution of the State and Politics in Colonel India; etc.
