This course is designed to enable professional engineers to fast-track into key management positions in the aerospace industry; the course emphasises the importance of linkages between engineering and management.
Year 1: Mandatory modules: introduction to aeronautics and astronautics; mechanics of flight; mechanics of solids; modelling and computing; design; electrical systems; fluid mechanics; mathematics for engineering sciences; mechanics; properties of materials; thermodynamics. Year 2: Mandatory modules: Aerodynamics; aerothermodynamics; aircraft structures; astronautics; computing; dynamics and control; engineering design and structural analysis methods; materials; mathematics for aerospace and ship engineering; mathematics for aerospace engineering; mechanics of flight; propulsion. Year 3: Mandatory modules: accounting and finance for engineers; aerospace design 1 and 2; applied aerodynamics; management 2; management science for engineers; structural design and individual project. Year 4: 1 mandatory taught module: industrial law; and group design project; management option modules and technical modules option lists.
