Year 1: Business operations; managing activities and people; professional business skills; research skills and information technology; evolution of adventure tourism; principles and practices of coaching; risk management; adventure tourism in context. Year 2: Adventure tourism project management; adventure tourism operations; financial management; managing human resources; managing research and information; marketing management, plus 2 options: disability in sport and recreation; culture, heritage and interpretation; nature tourism; managing small businesses; international travel operations; modern languages; sports development; travel writing. Year 3: Strategic management; project (expedition); contemporary international issues; adventure development and innovation, plus 1 option: countryside and coastal zone management; anthropology of tourism; destination management; sports tourism; in addition to participating in an international expedition, students may be given the opportunity to take part in student exchange projects in the north of Finland and elsewhere in Europe; opportunities to achieve additional vocational qualifications in mountain leadership; canoeing; rock climbing; sailing and first aid are available; all students are encouraged to undertake industrial experience within an adventure tourism organisation between June and September at the end of the 1st and 2nd years.
