The University of Sunderland's research has been classed as 'world leading' in 10 subjects by the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008).
This programme is specifically designed to enable teachers to develop their own professional practice; emphasis is placed on the advancement of professional practice by offering the opportunity to accredit the development of work based projects, whilst extending knowledge of the underpinning educational theory; students are able to expand upon their existing subject specific knowledge with individual tutor support.
Stage 1: 3 modules from: advanced pedagogical practice in subject related disciplines; contemporary issues in education; curriculum issues in the early years; the nature of teaching and learning; assessment; stage 2: 1 further module from the stage 1 list and 1 module which explores research methods; stage 3: dissertation that is guided study based on individual research within the chosen field.
