The aim of the programme is to support nurses, midwives and allied health professionals in advancing practice at both clinical and strategic levels; the postgraduate diploma award can incorporate the NMC/HPC recordable prescriber qualification; it is designed for senior health professionals seeking a career which involves direct hands on clinical assessment and strategic service design and re- configuration; this course develops student's critical thinking and advanced physical assessment skills improving the effectiveness of care delivery and patient outcomes; in addition leadership skills are extended to enable greater involvement and influence of clinical and policy decisions; the MSc framework is designed to extend learner's knowledge and skills through integrating practical and theoretical knowledge; relating taught and evidence based materials/research to their practice setting; as a multi professional course it is suitable and relevant for all senior health professionals from varying clinical specialities.
