Course Description
This programme aims to prepare students for chemistry careers in industry and academic research, including further study towards a PhD: broadening understanding of chemistry, whilst enhancing skills in organic reaction mechanisms, spectroscopy and synthetic strategy. organic chemistry underpins research and development in many areas of the chemical industry where the demands of contemporary research are such that advanced training beyond honours degree level is becoming increasingly necessary.

Assessment method
Typically you will take nine tested general and advanced level lecture courses and 3 or 4 problem-solving classes. Recent topics have included syntheis, asymmetric targets orientated synthesis, spectroscopy, organometallic chemistry, stereochemistry, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology and catalysis. These courses are specifically selected to enhance training on techniques and subjects needed by the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, speciality and fine organic chemicals industries.
Entry Requirements
Good first degree in chemistry or related joint discipline (depending on content). Those for whom English is not a first language, should preferably have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score 600 (paper-based)/ 250 (CBT)/ 100 (IBT).
