This course is for practicing engineers or graduates who want to become technical specialists or managers in industrial and manufacturing companies; it increases career potential by improving knowledge and experience of mechanical engineering, technical and problem-solving skills, management skills, and ability to take on greater responsibility; students also develop their understanding of current best practice in the theory and application of leading edge technologies, processes and systems in mechanical engineering.
Students take 2 management modules, 5 technical modules, and 1 optional module; optional modules include: advanced manufacturing technology; competitive design for manufacture; computational flow dynamics (CFD); sustainability, energy and environmental management; the international product development module involves working in multidisciplinary teams to develop a new product in a global market; this develops much sought-after advanced technical and business skills; the project provides a supported environment to develop students' ability in an area of their interest.
