This course is for engineers or graduates who want to become technical specialists or managers in industrial and manufacturing companies; it increases career potential by improving knowledge and experience of engineering, technical and problem-solving skills, management skills, and ability to take on greater responsibility; the course helps students to understand concepts and theories behind developing, manufacturing and managing engineering products and systems; they learn to explore and apply developments in engineering and management academic thinking and industrial practice.
Students take 2 management modules, 2 technical modules, and 4 optional modules; optional modules include: business process management; lean operations; advanced manufacturing technology; applicable artificial intelligence; computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture ; advanced computer system architecture; network applications; the international product development module involves working in multidisciplinary teams to develop a new product in a global market; this allows students to develop much sought-after advanced technical and business skills and improves their career prospects in the engineering industry and public service; the project also develops particular interest in a supported environment.
