This advanced course is designed for students who already have a relevant undergraduate degree in computer animation or computer-generated special effects, or for people with a computing/engineering undergraduate degree who can demonstrate sufficient relevant experience in these fields, and who want to further extend and develop their skills, knowledge and understanding; the aim is to equip students to become well qualified professionals who take a lead in developing and exploiting existing and emerging media technologies; teaching is backed up by an international research programme in imaging, multimedia, computer animation, virtual reality, distributed virtual environments, visualisation, digital video, human-computer interaction, telecommunications and artificial intelligence; the choice of either the MA or the MSc route depends on previous experience, interests and career ambitions; both routes share many modules; however the MA route allows students to develop artistic and creative animation talents, while the MSc route allows students to develop practical and technical skills.
