Most people have a bank account as well as loans, mortgages, insurance policies and credit card and the work that goes on behind the scenes to maintain these services is immense. In fact, the Financial Services industry is easily one of the biggest employers in the national and global economy. Apprentices in this area could be working as an insurance clerk, claims handler, investment administrator, cashier or customer service representative. You could also work in personal finance, providing advice to customers about financial products. You’ll learn how to work in a financial services environment and follow important regulations. You’ll need have a head for figures and have good customer relations skills. Many of the skills you will develop are transferable and will serve you well in many occupations.
