Administration Level 3 The Diploma in Administration (Business Professional) at level 3 is designed to prepare the aspiring administrator for working in a senior role. Routine office activities from levels 1 and 2 in administration are covered and extended to include an understanding of the functions and roles of business and aspects of management. The main functional areas of business are studied for example, human resources, admin, IT, purchasing. Different organisational structures are researched. Management theories are reviewed. At operational level, units include: * The recruitment and selection of staff * Review and evaluation of office procedures * Research and preparation of reports * Applying legislation which affects an organisation * Chairing meetings * Preparing and presenting information. Creating and keying in complex business documents is one unit of the diploma which requires accurate and fast keyboarding skills and time is spent developing these on the course. The Diploma in Administration (Business Professional) at level 3 is made up of credit values to a total of 37. Unit assessment to cover theory and practical tasks takes place in College lessons although tutor observations of students working competently in the workplace are used to enhance assignments which are sent to OCR, the examining body, for moderation. Units from the text processing qualification below are embedded with the diploma. Text Processing (Business Professional) Level 3 Units At level 3, or advanced level, the work builds on the level 2 syllabus in terms of complexity and layout and aims to increase keying in speeds to 50/55+ words per minute (wpm). Level 3 full time students are fast tracked through the theory at levels 1 and 2 to select units as appropriate. Some units at level 2 can be embedded within the diploma. The syllabus includes producing: * Multi page business letters * Complex multi page reports * Complex ruled tables * Complex multi page leaflets * Organisation charts * Form design with reference to resource sheets for information to aid document completion. A high level of initiative is required to manage the information and in the exam, tasks must be completed within the time scale to pass.
Minimum entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade C OR acceptable alternatives including English language.
