Applicants for Art and Design should show evidence of some artisitic ability and commitment, eg portfolio of painting or craft work. It is expected that candidates will have achieved a Level 2 qualification in art and design or demonstrate through their portfolio that they are currently working at such a level.
Students are given the opportunity to develop skills in a range of options:
Graphics
3D design
Textiles
Ceramics
Photography
Fine art
Illustration
Jewellery
Developing visual skills
Print making
Digital imaging
Sculpture
Fashion.
Following this students specialise in one of their options and further develop their skills in this area.
In addition to the above, students study drawing, contextual studies, art history and the application of technology in art and design.
Grade C in GCSE English language. Applicants must have experience in art and design. It is expected that students would be able to demonstrate ability in art and design by showing a comprehensive portfolio of art/design/craft work at interview. Applicants are invited to an informal interview with a tutor from the course.
