The course is delivered as a series of practical workshops and theory lectures; assessment is continuous on the completion of set coursework assignments, which are designed to improve technical, visual and analytical skills. Students are awarded units for evidence of competence in a variety of photographic skills: cameras, lighting, image processing and editing, print production.
The industry is almost exclusively based upon digital technology and delivery of the course reflects this, using our extensive digital imaging resources.
The course consists of 3 mandatory units and specialist photography units. Units of study are: Academic Writing Skills, Presentation skills, Research Skills for Studio, Core Camera Skills, Extended Camera Skills, Image Presentation Portfolio, Lighting, Processing and Print Production, Recording Media and Data Storage, Researching and Understanding Opportunities for Higher Education, Specialist Imaging Software Applications, Specialist Photographic Project.
Grade C in GCSE English language.Course applicants are invited to attend an interview with examples of their work, which should show basic photographic skills.
